On June 28, 2020, Antiquorum held a “Modern and Antique Watches” auction in Geneva. The auction presented 398 timepiece treasures, with a total transaction volume of 6.18 million Swiss francs. Three Rolex watches set world records, including a 1955 Ref. 6034 Oyster Chronograph 18K rose gold watch (No. 379) and a 1979 Ref. 1680 Submarine COMEX watch (No. 379). 346), and a 1969 Ref. 1680 Red Submariner watch (No. 345).
Ref.6034 Oyster Chronograph 18K Rose Gold Watch
Rolex Ref.6034, Oyster chronograph, 18K rose gold, produced around 1955 – an extraordinarily exquisite and rare manual winding 18K rose gold chronograph watch. Ref.6034 is the benchmark for Rolex chronographs. First of all, Ref.6034 is numbered 6XXX, which represents the first step towards a more sporty chronograph; secondly, Ref.6034 is the second timepiece equipped with a screw-in waterproof bottom cover, which not only improves the practicality of the watch also adds thickness and strength to the case. Replica Rolex.
The watch included in the auction is in good condition. The case is almost new, as evidenced by the two clear marks on the lugs. Even more surprising is that the three marks on the back of the watch show no signs of wear. The rose gold bracelet is very tight and has no slack at all. After a time, the dial shows a subtle color, but it is not oxidized or damaged. In addition, the fluorescent configuration of the toffee needle is also very rare. The watch was estimated at 250,000 to 350,000 Swiss francs before the auction and was finally sold for 600,000 Swiss francs (including commission).
Ref.1680 Submariner COMEX watch
This is a scarce Ref.1680 Submariner watch, produced in 1979, with the COMEX logo on the dial. Of all the COMEX sports watches, the Ref. 1680 is the rarest, with only around 60 made. Most of them were later replaced with regular Rolex dials when they were returned for repair. The fact is surprising. Many watch owners at the time did not like the COMEX logo on the dial. Replica watches for sale.
This watch is in excellent condition, has never been used in diving operations, and comes with the original warranty card. The look was estimated at 150,000 to 250,000 Swiss francs before the auction and was finally sold at 524,000 Swiss francs (including commission).
Ref.1680 Red Submariner watch
Rolex Ref.1680, Mark II tropical dial, circa 1969, with original box and papers. The Red Submariner is one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex models, and this one featured in the auction has a striking brown tropical dial. At the same time, from the words “200m=660Ft” marked above the 6 o’clock position, it can be seen that this is a Mark II dial.
This watch is in excellent condition, with an original chronometer certificate and bracelet assembled in 1971. The look was valued at 40,000 to 60,000 Swiss francs before the auction and sold at 104,000 (including commission).
